To keep things organized and out of the way, I figured making a thread would help those of use who are planning to cook for the group. I'd like this thread to be less about ideas and more about organization. Saying "I plan on making X" is great, but that can easily be done in the /k/ thread. Here I would like to see us plan things out more along the lines of "I need X of Z ingredient to make R number of batches to feed Q number of people."
Feeding 40+ mouths obviously will require multiple batches of any given recipe, and can get quite expensive once you start talking about things like meat. Post up your recipes and we can try to spread out the load. If one guy can get meat for cheap then he can handle that while other people divide up veg and other stuff.
Equipment I plan on bringing as of right now: -Camp stove -Large soup pot -Large cast iron skillet -Large wooden spoon -Small pot -At least 2 gallons of water

I've got a 2 burner Coleman, very similar to the first you one you linked, but mine has electric ignition. The cook top is fucking huge and will easily fit a large stock pot with the wind shield down, but the burners are a little on the small side. That's my only real worry is that it'll kill several bottles of propane to get a large pot to boil.
As far as food goes, I really wanted to try making Bigos, but it calls for a LOT of meat, and while I have no issue making one batch (which is supposed to serve up to 12 people) a double batch would seriously hurt my wallet. I'll post up the recipe later tonight.

I have a 2 burner coleman like that as well. I will probably have at least 4 bottles of propane for it. As for your MSR I might bring a 5gal Can of diesel if you can use it, Its already full and sitting in my garage currently. I was thinking of bringing it in case I decide to idle my jeep. If we need more fuel the gas station is not far.

I'll probably bring some Coleman fuel as well, as that's what my lantern will be running off of. Not sure how much is left in my current can, maybe like 1/8 of a gallon, but I have a whole unopened can as well. This stuff is old as hell and I'd rather use it up since I've got nothing that uses it besides the lantern and I don't have to pay for replacement bottles.

Bigos (Hunter's Stew):
-6 pounds of meat (a mix of beef, pork, lamb, sausage, and game meats) I can get pork and beef for relativly cheap, and I have a source for great home made sausage, but I would love to be able to add some rabbit, venison, or duck to this. -6 pounds of sauerkraute
the following I either already have in abundance or can get for cheap
-5oz salt pork -1 large onion -2 Tbs flour -1lb mushrooms -1-2 cups broth -2 leeks -salt -pepper -sugar
The only ingredient that I don't have is one cup of Madeira wine. I could probably go and buy a bottle someplace, but I'd never use the rest of it probably. If someone else has any that would be great, otherwise I'll probably substitute it with something. The recipe also says that apples, heavy cream and small potatoes can also be added.
Basically you fry off the veg in the bacon fat, then throw everything else in (you brown off all the meat before hand) the pot and let it simmer for 1-2 hours then add in the wine and anything else you feel like adding and simmer a little longer and then serve. It's easy and hearty, that's why I wanted to try it, but while the recipe feeds a lot, I'd probably have to make at least a double batch, so I was hoping that I could get some help with the meat and kraut.

Just bring it whole. I plan on being a gigantic faggot and cutting off a chunk just for myself. The rest will get cubed or sliced into strips for the stew.

Posting superior Zuppa Toscana: www.budgetbytes.com/2015/01/zuppa-toscana/I always use a full pound of sausage anyway and add the bacon back in. Fuck, now that I think about it I've had a lot of really great soup and stews from her. I might just end up doing a beef stew or her cheesy chili beef and mac. God knows it would be a million times cheaper and easier, and there is just something good about a hearty beef stew. If you want to do the Jambalaya I can help with celery, rice, and onions. If you want to do the Zuppa Toscana I can help with potatoes and onion again.

If you tell me what you think you will need me to bring I will have it there. You shouldn't be burdened with all the cost, I have an extreme love of Zuppa toscana in all its forms. I should be onsite sometime Friday afternoon, If you find out you need something else I can head back into town to acquire it.

Alright, I'm confirmed for making beef and barley stew. If someone could bring a large ladle that would be great.

Alright, put me down for zuppa toscana then. I'm not buying shrimp for jambalaya for you faggots unless I'm getting some ass out of it. That is by far my favorite soup ever.

So I cooked a trial batch of stew today. Turned out very tasty but I found a few issues here and there with the prep. Now that I know about them I can adjust, so things should co nice and smoothly out in the field.
